I have a room that if you want to watch tv in the sun beats until lunch every day. I bought a beautiful brushed nickel curtain rod and stretched it as far as I could to hang completely from the French doors and transoms behind the paneling. Withdrawn, they set a beautiful accent in the room. When closed they do a reasonable job - definitely enough for me to be able to enjoy my TV without any issues, which is all I wanted. Drawing curtains is easy. I won't let kids or little people pull them back because they seem to be clinging to a pole going that way. There's a limited amount of reddish tinge, which is actually nice. I think more expensive curtains would block more light but I'm happy with the feel and the way they hang.
