I was thinking of more decorative lights but fearing they would not bring enough light into our kitchen decided on these lights instead. In the end I was happy with how they looked and they made plenty of light (4 of them installed in our 10 x 32 foot kitchen) - actually a bit too much light for normal everyday use. Glad we adjusted the dimmer when we turned on the lights - most of the time they are a little dimmed. The color is a little whiter than I would like, but not critical. We didn't do the installation ourselves so I don't know how easy it was to install.
