Review on πŸ”’ Ultimate Rim Protection: Stan's NoTubes Rim Tape for Rim Interior - 10 Yards by Kuldip Roberts

Wide range of tape for your tubeless conversion

I originally tried Gorilla Tape as a rom tape for converting to tubeless with no success. I was unable to get the correct width or coverage for my rim width (19mm inner diameter). The bolt holes may have been sealed, but I couldn't get the bead to fit snugly enough against the rims to inflate and sit down. I bought Stan's Yellow spoke tape (21mm) and got it right on the first try. don't count). This allows you to leave a couple/three mm of overhanging rim on both sides for the tire bead. You want the bead to sit between the tape and the edge of the rim walls. If the roller isn't tight, you won't be able to achieve an airtight seal. You don't want the tape covering the entire bottom of the rim. The rims I converted to tubeless are not yet tubeless ready. In fact, the rims are equipped with Schrader to Presta Valve adapters. These adapters are "rings" that fit into the valve openings and are slotted therein to allow for contraction/expansion during installation. This separation allows a lot of air to flow out of the rim. If you use Stan's rim tape, your rims are either not tubeless ready or you need to replace the tape. In any case, remove the rim tape from the rim. I then cleaned the windows with Simple Green and then with alcohol. After it was completely dry I applied 2 coats of rim tape (to form the center of the bead and seal the valve holes), making sure to squeeze out any air bubbles under the tape as much as possible. I originally had a problem with the ribbon breaking when clicking. I quickly realized it was my thumb. Once I press down on the tape with my index finger and squeeze out any air bubbles, I had no more trouble separating the tape. You don't have to stretch the tape, Stan's rim tape doesn't actually stretch. You just have to pull it up so it lays flat. No need to pull the tape in place. Just make sure you lay it flat on the inside of the cleaned rim, centered, leaving room for the tire bead and removing any air bubbles. . Just make sure your rims and tires are clean and dry, then take your time with the tape. You will get it too. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope it was helpful to you.
