Nice WiFi Docsis 3.0 Cable Modem Router

This item replaces the [ARRIS/Motorola] provided COMCAST router/gateway and eliminates xfinity's built-in public WiFi. WiFi xfinity effectively reduces the internet speed I pay for. Also, I don't have to pay $10 a month rent until December 2015 and $12 thereafter. It pays for itself in 9 months. The nice thing is I didn't have to call Comcast to get the equipment ready. I plugged in a Netgear cable modem, plugged my laptop into one of the LAN cable ports and it automatically opens the Comcast website to activate the hardware and prompts me to log into my account. That's all you need to connect your router to a Netgear cable modem. I previously subscribed to Comcast Blast for a number of years with a nominal speed of 150Mbps, but actual speeds were only between 30-42Mbps (wired or wireless). As a result, I received a notification from Comcast that my subscription would be increased again and equipment rentals starting January 2016. Since there aren't many ISPs in my area offering similar speeds, I decided to cancel my 75 Mbps subscription and at the same time replace the supplied cable modem. Couldn't be happier with the move as current internet speeds are 70Mbps (LAN) and 42Mbps (wireless) with Netgear cable modem. Note that the Netgear cable modem has 8 download channels and 4 download channels.
