Reminds me of my miter box. Its purpose is to guide the cutting tool, which it does very well. The slot is the correct width and the adjustment slots are well spaced to cut different thicknesses. I love the folding style it fits in my small efficient kitchen. The device has several disadvantages: of course, due to its boxy shape, it is somewhat difficult to clean, which is necessary for its function. It must also be handled with care, as even durable plastic will shed shavings when attacked with sharp steel tools. like that . It's as good as the average kitchen gets in terms of design, materials and construction. The only improvement might be to develop a similar style in steel; but for this purpose it would be "superfluous". Excellent work!
