I looked at a lot of sound machines. I needed one for my tinnitus to help mask the ringing. I'm really bothered by obvious looping of sound machines where you can tell where the sound recording has been spliced. This machine has a smooth sound. It has plenty of choices, although at first I did not realize that I should keep pushing each button to hear the different choices so I thought there were less. Each button has several choices if you keep pushing. There is a low click to the button if you are looking to use this in a baby's room you might want to turn it on before bringing a sleeping baby in. The timer is nice, although I keep it on all night. Overall it is a good little sound machine. The USB plug, as others have mentioned, needs an adapter for the wall which it does not come with. Most of us have these around, but it is a little annoying that it doesn't have one, so the one thing that brings it to a 4 star
