simple and effective. costs money. Quick upgrade for an old computer.

I had multiple SATA hard drives. wanted to upgrade 2 old P4 computers with a SATA SSD hard drive and then install Linux. Previously I tried to use a GODSHARK (SIL 3114) 4 port RAID SATA PCI card, it didn't work with an ADATA SSD but worked fine with a regular SATA HDD. Tried this adapter and it works with ADATA SSDs and regular SATA 5400/7200 HDDs. I placed the SSD in the ORICO 2.5 SSD SATA to 3.5 Hard Drive Adapter Internal Drive Bay Converter to fit in the hard drive bay in the case where the hard drive is located with the adapter near the side panel. It would be better to have the power connector at the bottom (or with a pigtail) if they fit standard cases. I can risk unsoldering the power connector and plugging in a pigtail. Note that this adapter will make the SSD/HDD drive longer than normal, so you may need to reposition it to fit the case and still have the side panel enabled. I have one installed on an E3600 Gateway and a Dell Dimension 2400 with ADATA 120GB SSDs. Also note that only one device can be connected to the adapter, so you lose an IDE connector.
