Review on πŸ”§ BeadBuster XB-455 Tire Bead Breaker Tool for ATVs, Motorcycles, 4x4s, and Lawn Mowers by Shigg Bigbee

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cool tool, well made, compact, doesn't work very fast and requires training.

It really works and there is a learning curve. I would give it 5 stars but I wouldn't call it "love". It's not as fast as you might think in the video and most of the time you have to move it around the tire at 2-3 other spots on the rim. You can destroy a tire by pressing down on the tool's foot and knocking off the tire's sidewall if it's not tight enough. You must keep an eye on the foot of the tool when tightening. You can use an impact wrench, but I've found that you're more comfortable with a socket wrench on the clamp. The hit is good for breaking the board. I tighten the clamp assembly all the way and then back it off a full turn. It's tight enough on the rim but loose enough for the foot to go through the rim lock. Be careful while you drive, but don't drive blind, you can just cut perfectly square slices into the sidewall of the tire instead of breaking the bead. You will need a large clamp or two to prevent the tire from returning to the bead seat when the bead is decelerated. Once the rim tailgate has broken 360 degrees, you will need to use a tool to drive the tire into a recessed groove due to the longer rim. I used a blunt flat bar and a hammer while the rim just rested on a large block of wood. You just need to support the rim so the tire stays where it was passed and doesn't move backwards. Pros: very compact and light, well made, works. Cons: Slow, risk of tire damage. I would buy it again, it's cool but you have a learning curve.

  • Enjoyable
Cons
