These saved me a 10 foot Lightning charge cable for less than the cost of a new cable - and I still have 299 Heat shrink tubing, left over for other jobs. I found the 7.9mm tube to be a little tight on the Lightning connector on my iXCC cable, which has a slightly larger Lightning connector than Apple's standard cable. I think the 7.9mm tube slides cleanly over the stock Apple connector. So I expanded the tube a bit by inserting needle nose pliers and then opening them while they were in the tube, which worked really well. I tried very hard to open the handles and the hose temporarily expanded just enough that there was no sign of tearing or splitting. The tubing held the extension long enough for me to slide it onto the iXCC connector and then within seconds seemed to return to its original size, ready to compress. Used an electrician's heat gun to shrink the tubing and got great results. It fits snugly over the connector, fits snugly over the original strain relief boot, and fits snugly over the cable itself. A 3:1 shrink ratio is ideal, 2:1 would not work. Small drops of glue appeared at each end, not as thick as the tube's material but enough to show it was melted and sealed - a nice extra boost of confidence to show I'd gotten the result I wanted - tight shrinkage and a Bonus adhesive connection. And my 10 foot iXCC cable that has served me well for many years is now ready for many more years to come.
