Well honestly if I saw these displayed at a hardware store I wouldn't buy them. I ordered these based on the reviews and when I installed them I really wasn't impressed. They increased the brightness in my garage but not much, maybe 30% more brightness. And the shadow effect you get from them is extremely striking. Because they are actually 3 powerful LED flashlights. The ability to direct the light does nothing. I didn't notice any difference in the lighting no matter how I positioned it. I also couldn't negate the shadow effect by moving the lights. The biggest difference was that the light was a bright white rather than a soft yellow light, so it lit things up a bit better. It's worth it because of the terrible shadow effect you get from them. If you have a 60 watt light bulb in your garage, they make the garage brighter. However, you can buy a 100-watt LED bulb at a hardware store for less than $10 that has almost the same brightness but without the shadow effect.
