I've been using these bulbs for about 12 hours a day to light up the plants on my bookshelf for a year. I am happy with them for several reasons: 1. They lasted a year. You may think that LEDs last longer than fluorescent/incandescent bulbs, but you are wrong. Unfortunately many cheap cheaper LEDs must be poorly made because I have had several die within 7 months after 16 hours of use (about 3400 hours or 1/15th of the expected lifespan). UPDATE: Approximately 1 year and 1 month later they are in their death throes. They can only reach half the brightness and often flicker quickly for minutes when first switched on. Considering that LEDs have a lifespan of 50,000 hours, this is disappointing but not entirely unexpected. When they are completely dead I will save up and buy something more expensive so as not to change them in a year.2. you are skinny Most cabinets have grooves on the bottom and are thin enough to be hidden. I use mine on a bookshelf with no ledge, so I need a very low profile fixture that doesn't look nasty or reduce the vertical height of the shelf.3. They are super light. I didn't want to make holes in my bookshelf so I hung them up with velcro. So. Any velcro will do, I bet. I bought a new extra thin velcro, attached three 1 inch strips to each lamp and pressed them to the shelves. I didn't even take the shelves out to properly pressurize the glue. . Then I sealed the wires with clear tape. Also, since my bookshelf has a cardboard backing, I had no trouble threading the string through the small hole in the back where the cardboard had easily detached from the shelves. I did it twice. : Connect the top shelf to the bottom shelf once and plug the cord into the outlet once.4. The remote control works with radio frequency. Let's talk about it for a minute because if you're like me you know what it means, but you don't KNOW what it means. (For reference: RF = radio frequency and IR = infrared.) The RF remote control for these lights transmits to the receiver via radio waves. The only downside to this is that you may not be able to program a universal IR remote (e.g. some cell phones or f-line replacement remotes). Air Lights) to control these lights. So don't lose your remote control. The company will likely sell a replacement, but be aware that you need an RF remote, not the more common IR remote. This is the only downside. On the plus side, you don't have to be in line of sight of the receiver to use the remote. It's HUGE, especially when you have these lights under your closet. You can slide the receiving end of the cable into a closet and it will still work. You don't even have to be near him. Having experienced this myself, I can say with absolute certainty that I will NEVER, EVER, buy a backlight for a cabinet that uses a regular IR remote control. I will always, always stick to remote controlled RF lights. I have lights elsewhere and now having to stand 3ft in front of the receiver and try to turn them on or off at least 5 times before they work is annoying me. What can be hung with Velcro. And lasts about 4400 hours with 100% bright stable light.
