For the most part, the beauty of this is that there is a vent when the mouthguard could cover the mouth and leave it open. It's a lot thicker than any other brand I've tried before, so this hole comes in handy. The downside of this mouthguard is that it wasn't easy to adjust my teeth when I followed the directions (which might be better for a thinner mouthguard). I repeated the instruction and added a few more seconds to see if the fit improved, but it didn't. Maybe the manufacturer needs different instructions for each size.
