When I bought my new Scout, the first thing I saw in the parking lot was a guy bragging about how he only spent $300 on his Viking leather saddlebags. I didn't have the heart to tell him that they looked cheap and plasticky compared to the high quality leather used in Indian bags. To be honest I haven't seen a saddlebag on Scout that looks as good as the Indian bags. They are beautiful, soft, supple leather, well made and compliment the bike. Yes, there are other options if you want a $13,000 bike to look like metric garbage. In terms of storage, they are designed to make the most of the space available. I can roll up my thick winter coat and put it in my pocket. My small lunch box also fits in there. As for one reviewer who said it doesn't always close properly, I'm not sure how that's possible unless it's so full the lid doesn't close far enough. There are heavy duty buttons on either end of the bag and 2 nylon straps and clips behind the leather straps you see from the front. I've only ridden in the rain once but I don't understand how they can be waterproof. The leather fully covers all sides of the bag and extends at least 2 inches on the ends and 3-4 inches on the sides. For the price I only give 4 stars.
