My boyfriend and I bought this camera for a cruise vacation earlier this month. I was hesitant to buy it because it was an older model, but it had the best combination of price and good reviews; was much cheaper but it was an unnamed brand with too many bad reviews for my liking. I found the image quality to be comparable to my Nikkon Cool Pix and a similar Cannon camera I have, despite the lower megapixel count of this camera (10MP compared to the Cool Pix's 11MP and the Nikkon's 14MP). Both cameras were held under water several times. The quality of the underwater footage was very good, I wasn't able to use it for snorkeling as much as I had hoped as the water conditions weren't the best so I can't vouch for how it photographs the colors of the fish etc but the Underwater footage has become so clear it's like looking at the water through a mask. Having forgotten my regular camera, this was my main camera on the trip and took great pictures from the water too. I was surprised that it was easy to manually adjust settings like ISO to get better shots on some outdoor evening shows. I have never rinsed it with fresh water as instructed and the camera still works perfectly. Only 1 or 2 shots had water droplets as they couldn't be dried before shooting out of the water. Oops. My only complaint is that there is now somehow a small tear/hole in the corner of the battery compartment. It's probably my fault as I dropped it once or twice. Of course, this doesn't make it waterproof, although it's still usable. Also, the bracelet is incredibly difficult to put on, I helped my friend with this but didn't have the patience to put mine on so I was lucky it didn't fall into a waterfall or sink to the bottom of the ocean. Note that another friend on the trip bought a slightly more expensive waterproof camera from a different brand. Her camera broke as soon as she touched the water. We had TWO of them that survived the whole trip. although you are no longer waterproof.
