UPDATE 02/11/2021! Just ordered another pair of S7 fans! Andy, I've never met you, but I really like these silent fans and recommend them! I have three of these fans in a media cabinet the size of a tall refrigerator. Inside, I have a powerful AV receiver, BluRay player, cable TV DVR, and other items on the shelves that generate an incredible amount of heat. When we built the house my wife wanted all audio and video equipment to be hidden and as a music lover I wanted the home theater area to be able to see what I want to see and hear what I want to hear but without the side noise . Solution: I purchased this item and installed two fans on the AV receiver and a third of the same fan on the cable box/dvr. Door closed and waited an hour. The heating load was halved. I didn't want to just move hot air around in this large cabinet, so there's a passive fan in the cabinet gasket. just a louvered floor vent that people use in their homes to heat the floor. I just waited for the wife to get out of the house and sawed through a hole in the drywall with one of her good steak knives and stuck the bottom cheap vent in the floor :) Vacuum and done. These fans have been running flawlessly for two years and my wife, who heard the mouse farting, never noticed them. Back then, they were one of the few USB fan setups with speed control, no LEDs for the Fan Boi light show, and CEC certified. The fans are very quiet, well made and have good rubber anti-vibration feet. orphaned slaves recruited from the miserable slums of Third World countries. But those fears were immediately dispelled when I opened the box upon receipt. Beautiful packaging, quality wiring and fan design. Today I'm back on their website and ordering a second set to place on my desk next to my computer workstation. I have some good friends who design high end consumer electronics - really expensive stuff. Both experts told me that installing a quality fan on an AV receiver can add several years to the life of such equipment. So I highly recommend these AC Infinity products. Just buy a dual fan setup, install the speed controller wherever you want, and forget about it! (The slower the quieter, but even at high it was very acceptable for my application) And as I said, I came back today to buy another set, which I should have done a long time ago :) Heat kills electronics. And if you look at cooling fans, you already know that stereo, AV equipment, and computer equipment can generate enough heat to slowly disable your devices. The next possible project for them. We have a few large walk-in closets that we keep closed because our ever-curious sausages like to curl up when we're not home. Anyway, I put old computer fans that were too loud in the closets to let the air circulate and not smell musty when we're gone for a while. One of those little fans would be a lot quieter and powerful enough to push all the air it needs under the closet door to keep things smelling fresh—even after we've returned from a two-week vacation.
