The drive booted up fine and I was able to migrate everything from my two 5TB drives, but it started silently corrupting about 10% of my data. I first noticed my backup fail and have since replaced everything but the hard drive to find the problem. SMART still says the disk is fine and I have no problem reading it, but it consistently writes the wrong bit and doesn't tell me. Methodology: I document the source drive, destination drive, cables and computer, copy a few gigabytes of files, then use Doublekiller to remove the duplicates and HxD to compare what's left. I see 10-30% of my files get corrupted with a little difference when the 8TB drive is the target, on 2 different USB 3.0 sticks, 3 different computers and 6 different source files. Several times it just skipped the last part of the file and wrote all 0's. Unfortunately my 5TB Backup Plus failed right out of warranty. I have backups, but it's already cost me a week to diagnose.
