Firstly, it is ULPA per se and the vacuum cleaner should be ULPA and then need another filter. There are no instructions. With the motor resting face down on your knees, carefully/slowly lift straight up. Can be rotated to reduce friction as a smooth round. I was less than impressed before it took me a while to figure out how to get rid of his stubbornness. I'm not looking forward to changing this filter but I feel good, it doesn't let air through! The entire vacuum has sub-par instructions, lacking the documentation I expected for ULPA, but it was the most affordable even after upgrading the individual filters to HEPA.
