Review on Nashuatec Density Diskette Formatted Diskettes by Chris Peck

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Labels are not sticky. A bad disk.

These Nashuatec diskettes are as good as the diskettes they used to be. I like having a backup media that only contains a few files so I don't have to risk losing gigabytes of data. The disks fit into storage boxes that I already have (or that I can get cheaply at flea markets or clearance sales). In addition, unlike flash drives, floppy disks provide a WRITING SURFACE that allows you to index the contents of the disk with a marker. And the floppy disks are big enough to be easier to find than those Lilliputian flash drives. (These benefits offset the slow read and write times of floppy disks. ) Unfortunately, these floppy disks are no more reliable or durable than Windows 7 Day floppy disks. A floppy disk was defective immediately after unpacking. (Really! It happened in the "good old days" too.) I can't find any Windows 10 utilities that defragment floppy disks, so those disks tend to slow down and slow down. These disks are probably "new old stock": The adhesive on the labels supplied was dry and unusable from day one. I tried fixing the glue on two labels with Duco Cement. Duco crumpled up the labels, but I didn't mind. But there was also a great danger: Duco deformed the front of the disk cassettes in a short time. While the disks were still being read, the deformations tore the disk cases in the middle of the seam. I tried sealing the gap with a popular product like this: Duck Max Strength 240201 Duct Tape. What the hell? A piece of tape here and a ball of tape there holds almost the whole world together. But who knows, can duct tape fix a warped disk? Maybe the tape will seal my disc instead. "What a rebellious development" that would be.
