Don't worry about the panels

This is not a blackout or thermal insulation. They have no back and as I put them on I could see light coming through the tiny holes in the fabric. Also keep in mind that the ribbons are only about 50 inches long and once you've tied them the curtain will be much shorter. I figured since my windows are 48 inches I could get 63 inches to work and they would look very nice tied together, but then they don't even cover the window. If I could get my husband to take the curtain rods off I would return them. Maybe in a few days he'll get tired of the heat.
