Works as advertised. I bought a very big one. I would give it five stars if it worked more effectively on a pet. Unfortunately, my cat is very smart. She was able to determine that the checkmate was the cause of the hit. She just ran past the mat very quickly before he hit her because the mat delivered the shock 3 seconds after the hit. In addition, she could sometimes jump over the carpet. In general, this will work if you're putting a sofa, coffee table, or other piece of furniture as long as you can't see the rug from the floor. Not great if you want to use it as a barrier between rooms. Instead I would recommend the PetSafe Pawz Away pet fence if you want to use it as an indoor fence for your pet.
