We bought a sleeper sofa and it came with a terrible 4 inch Serta spring mattress. Absolutely horrible mattress, found the bar and couldn't get comfortable. So I was looking for a mattress thick enough that I might not feel the bar, but more for comfort, as long as it's comfortable I would feel the bar every day. I ordered this mattress 2 days ago and it arrived today, it wasn't easy to unpack but I giggled and put on a hilarious show as I unwrapped it to my grandma's delight. It was vacuum sealed and as soon as I ripped open the packaging it immediately puffed up. Let me tell you, lying on it is a dream compared to the atrocities that went with the sofa. I didn't feel the pole, my grandma lay on it and she loved it as did my mom. AND THAT'S NOT ALL, it folds back into the sofa! I was really concerned that I would have to fold it up and store it somewhere other than on the bed, but no, it fits like a glove. If you have a sofa bed, take it, buy it now, you will not regret it. The only small drawback is a slight smell, although I aired it out for about 8 hours and now I'm lying on it and everything is fine. . You'll definitely have to air it out once you get it, but seriously, it's not even that big of an issue. Obtain. This. Mattress. Edit: I've slept on the mattress a few times, I'm a tall woman, I just had a baby so I'm holding on to the extra weight. The first few times I slept on it I couldn't feel the bar, but after a few times the bar is definitely still there and my ass still hurts. I took the mattress that came with the bed and put a foam mattress on top to support this and it's quite comfortable. It's still an amazing mattress and if you're lighter you might not have as much of a problem. Also, the smell hasn't completely gone from the mattress yet, so I'll keep it folded up for a week to try to get rid of it completely. The mattress itself is incredibly comfortable, the sofa beds just suck.
