This lamp solved the green algae problem that I couldn't replace with water. At first I actually tried installing it on my supine one. I tried this for a few days and then, thanks to very helpful customer support, found that the light needs to be fully submerged in water to work properly. According to the seller, partial immersion may cause slight cracking due to uneven temperature. I set up a makeshift aquarium for my fish in a large bucket with a heater and air stone. I put the fish in a bucket. Catching them was a big problem considering the water was so green, but I caught them all. I did a big water change, about 75% (I've tried this before but the algae kept coming back). I installed a lantern in the tank. I turned on the light as instructed and it cleared my water significantly. The algae did not come back for over a week. Problem solved. The customer support I received from the seller of this unit was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone I know in the hobby who is struggling with this particular algae.
