I have a 3D projector (VIDEO ONLY) and a receiver without 3D surround sound (Audio only). I wanted the splitter to send audio to the receiver and video to the projector. just like i needed it *Update* What I had to buy was an HDMI splitter with EDID control. This simple splitter actually worked as advertised. but I had another situation where I needed 2 different input devices (projector and sound receiver) with completely different configurations. A suitable device for this setup would be an HDMI splitter with EDID control. When 2 devices are connected via HDMI, the receiving device sends a profile for the approved audio/video settings. The problem was that the EDID profiles for my projector only accepted video and 2ch audio and my audio receiver didn't accept 3D video. So I couldn't separate audio and video for 7.1 channel audio and 3D video. EDID management, the splitter itself blocks sending audio/video profile (EDID) and sends its pre-approved settings.
