For the most part this is a pretty solid car phone mount. However, the X-Grip holder has some limitations. First, it doesn't fit my Samsung Galaxy S3. Or at least it doesn't hold it, as suggested in the holder's instruction manual. The recommended use of the holder is to press the tab and slide the top tab up, place the phone in the bottom tabs (which are NOT ADJUSTABLE btw) and press the top tab to lock it in place. It's a very smart and convenient way to mount your phone in this mount, but the overall vertical length is too short. Of course it will fit any iPhone up to and including the 4s, but I doubt it will work well with the iPhone 5, let alone any of the new sizeable smartphones. You can TAKE it under the top tongue, but this defeats the purpose of the holder. Firstly, don't expect me to have to take my phone out of the case just to secure it in the car. I use a Ballistic brand "armored case" on my phone which only adds 6mm to the height of the phone, but my phone in the case is almost 1 inch taller to mount when the cradle is fully seated is undressed. Second, the design of the mount makes it easy to snap the phone into place without having to bend the clip too much just to make the phone fit the mount.
