I've had this plugged in for over a week or so now and have noticed it helps my dog stay a lot calmer inside and less reactive to the door (helps when no one rings the doorbell too). He noticed it right away when we plugged it in and went over to smell it. He seems to understand the smell and it helps keep him calm. I notice less barking, whining, and alertness by the door and in the house. Will keep using! We also unplug it at night to help conserve the use of it and make it last longer. Really great to use for your older dog or new puppy.
