Review on Fromm IRS827 Razor Strop 23 by Mariah Perry

First of all, these are Illinois Razor Strop Co. Model #827. This is an "Imperial Russia" line, meaning the skin side is pressed into a ribbed shape and you're actually flinging on the flesh side. It has more teeth than a standard strap, requiring fewer passes on the skin. Maybe Fromm bought the company, maybe both belong to a conglomerate. Anyway, I received an Illinois #827 and am in the process of reviewing it. The leather and canvas faceplates are of good quality, as is the hardware. There is one downside and that is the fit and finish. The handles of canvas and leather belts are roughly cut and roughly sewn on. The logo is also pretty badly stamped. Honestly I think the grips will be swapped out and glued on later. However, the business end of the sling is excellent and works as it should. I'm expecting at least a decade of use from this, so it's hard to complain at that price point.
