Excellent image quality but significant lag on some cameras

I bought this so I can use my GoPro Hero 7 Black and/or Canon DSLR camera as a webcam and record videos to edit and post for some of the courses I teach online. The device does exactly what it promises and delivers excellent image quality. However, I use an external microphone (Yeti Nano) instead of the built in my DSLR or GoPro and there is a significant delay between audio and video capture. On my Canon 5D Mark III DSLR the lag is around 0.5 seconds, but on the GoPro Hero 7 Black the lag is around 2 seconds. This is an easy solution in Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere if you're editing your video, but if that's all you're doing then you don't really need this device, you can just burn the video to a memory card and then import it. for editing on your computer. The fact that the latency is quite different between my two cameras suggests that the latency is probably related to the camera and not the video capture key. I haven't verified that the audio and video sync properly when using the built-in microphones. Cameras because those mics just don't have the sound quality I need. So the bottom line for me is that I could probably use my DSLR with this dongle to capture video for live streaming as the 0.5 second lag isn't that bad (and it COULD even drop to zero if I had a external microphone to my connecting camera), but using this with a GoPro adds a delay of about 2 seconds between what the camera sees and what the computer sends. I'm sure this won't be a problem for a "one-way" video broadcast, but it can be annoying if you're using it live with two video calls like Webex, Zoom, Skype, etc.
