This product does exactly what it's supposed to do: it allows you to transfer the contents of one Xbox 360 hard drive to another. In my case, my 360 is with a red ring (which seems to happen to everyone). I have decided to buy an Xbox 360 Slim and a new hard drive hence the need to migrate. As expected, I plugged in the drive and transferred whatever Microsoft let me transfer. It's important to note that this is a transfer: the way Microsoft sets it up, you can only move data from one drive to another. Therefore, backing up your drive is not possible (at least not with Microsoft software). Since this is a USB to SATA cable, it should also work with standard SATA drives when connected to a PC. While such drives can be used with an Xbox 360, doing so involves a lot of 'hacking' - you can't just copy an Xbox 360 drive to an inexpensive SATA drive. So most people just went with Microsoft drives.
