I ordered one of these broom handles to keep my kitchen broom off the floor (to keep the bristles in better shape) and to hang it on the back of a cupboard door. It's been a few months and it's working fine, so I've ordered two more. I cleaned/dried the surface well before sticking the strip to the cupboard door and waited 24 hours before hanging the broom (in the handle). I used one to keep my walking stick upright and prevent it from falling to the floor when I'm working at my desk. It worked so well that I put another cane holder on my nightstand. I have arthritic hands so I had to practice using the grip effectively (twisting the grip in and out instead of pinching) to make it easy for me to use (no hand/wrist pain). I tried hanging an aluminum snow shovel on it but unfortunately the handle diameter was too big to grip. Could the shovel also be too heavy? The specs say it can hold up to 4 pounds and 0.8-1.0 inch grips. Not sure what the 0.8-1.0 inch grip is. My stick is 3.5 inches in diameter and weighs just over 1 pound. The kitchen broomstick is 2.85 inches in diameter (outer diameter?) and also weighs about a pound.
