*Update* I bought this heater in 2016 and it's been a little over 4 years now and it's still working. I can't say for sure the long-term temperature accuracy of this heater just because I paired it with an Ink Bird digital temperature controller (to prevent the tank from overheating in the event of a heater failure) about a year after initial installation. the hydor heater in my tank. But I can say that combined with Ink Bird this heater was excellent and I am very happy with my purchase. I have a second tank with a different brand of heater that I bought maybe 2 years ago that died today. I find the Hydor to be an excellent heater and am planning to order one for my other tank. My only regret is that Hydor is not sold locally so I had to purchase the same brand which just broke while waiting for my Hydor to ship. In the winter I keep my house thermostat low, around 57 degrees. In the past my aquarium heater has had trouble maintaining the correct temperature in the aquarium. I decided to purchase this heater for my 36" front tank and I was not disappointed. My aquarium maintains a stable temperature of 78 degrees without any problems. When we ran out of power for a couple of hours the tank temp dropped to 68 degrees and the heater didn't seem to heat the tank up again once power came back but I twisted the knob and set it to 78 degrees and back it popped. right in. Since then everything is fine.
