This is a great product if you are sharpening a pocket knife, kitchen knife or straight razor. Four different levels of roughness ensure a well-polished edge on whatever you want to sharpen. I would like to mention a few other reviews that say the bandage pad is not flat. While this is true, this stone does not have to be flat to create a flat surface on the surface of your stone. Deviations on the surface of the leveling stone are necessary to trap dirt, defects and irregularities on the surface of the stones. I have sharpened several blades with it and each time the sharpening stone has left the surface perfectly smooth. Whatever you want to sharpen, they work well. If you have doubts about how to use it, there are many videos on YouTube about how to use it. Since I needed to sharpen my straight razor, I wanted to make sure I had a good idea of what I was doing before I sharpened it for the first time. It worked great.
