I volunteer at our wonderful local (nonkillable) Humane Society. It's no cakewalk to climb into a kennel and try to grab a dog by the collar that's desperate to escape. Lapel leashes are good if you can hold a strong dog long enough to find the metal loop on the collar and attach the leash clip to it. This type of leash allows you to almost "lasso" the dog's neck if you open the end wide enough to slip the neck through easily, then simply grab the leash and pull. Even if you manage to grab the collar, you will find it easier to pull the loop over the dog's head. No need to look for the metal ring on the collar to snap the clip onto the leash. If you wish to use a clip on a leash after you have safely pulled the dog out of the crate, you can easily do so as you already have the dog safe and controlled by the leash. If you just want to hold on to a glide line, simply slide the locking tab down to prevent rope slippage, which can sometimes happen with wigglers. The quality of the rope material is first class and far superior to those made from woven threads. There is also no suffocation, which of course is very important. Recommend this leash for all fix and walk situations!
