I recently shaved with an old Gillette carbon steel blade and wanted to try the modern version. Carbon steel cutlery is known for having a sharper blade than its stainless steel counterpart, and the same goes for double-edged blades. I touched up the vintage blade after 3 shaves and the next shave was smoother than the first shave with the new blade. After that I switched the blade 3 more times and the shave was incredibly smooth. The correction does not work for stainless steel blades. I plan on fitting the Treet Black Beauty razor after two more shaves to see if it delivers a like-new shave. Check out Black Beauty: while these blades worked well, they still didn't work as well as I expected. I first used this blade in a couple of vintage 60's Gillettes and got a good shave. Popped a black beauty into my 1918 Gillettec Old Type pen today and it worked much better. If that's all I had on hand, this is a blade that can work well. but not in my new vintage razors.
