Review on ๐ŸŽต Crosley 1975T Turntable System with Bluetooth, CD, AM/FM, Walnut Finish, and Free Speakers by Matt Patnaik

So close but always cheap

I'm the guy who gives brands a break. Not known for its quality, Crosley introduced many people to vinyl with mixed results. They had to make enough money over the years to finally start improving their products. So here we are. 1975T all-in-one system. First, good. It looks cool and gives off a very retro vibe. While the LED lighting is easy to spot (too blue), it looks like an old compact stereo from the 1970s. The tuner is analogue, the CD player fairly unobtrusive considering it's on the front, the overall sound is decent and on par with the compact stereos of yesteryear. Maybe a little better. The platter is a few notches above standard Crosley fare. It has a simple suspension and the cartridge is magnetic, not ceramic. This is a huge deal. It won't eat your notes. But there are also uncomfortable moments. The tuner is off. For example, if the station number is 106, the scale is 106.5. There seems to be poor deviation from nearby stations and there is no "stereo" display. I can ignore these things. But there is a problem with the turntable motor grounding/shielding. Yes, the speed is almost on top, but as soon as the motor starts turning, a hum comes out of the speakers. It reminds me of an old record player that didn't have a proper ground wire. So using this to transfer albums is probably not a wise choice. Too bad, because the sound quality of the pickup is really very good. Watch my video about engine noise. I give it 4 stars but it's really 3 1/2 in my book. If it didn't have such a strong engine noise I would give it a 5.
