This is the most important item when buying a motorhome. In March 2018 I installed my new Heartland 38 inch (30 amp). After 2 years of traveling across the US (West Coast - East Coast), Canada and Alaska I have had countless issues connecting to RV Park services, each of which would have blown my inverter/converter if it weren't protected by this device. If there is an "external" connection/cable/power problem, this device will detect it and shut it down. In most cases, RV Park can relocate you to another location or fix their problem in just minutes - that's certainly better than breaking your electronics that take weeks to fix. I can't tell you how many different problems I've seen, even at the best RV parks - I always watch them get fixed (I have over 30 years of experience) Yes this model is van mounted so it is it very hard to steal - i love it. To install this you will need an electrician or very experienced in electrical connections (behind entry doors, closets or wall panels).
