17/12: Small and very sharp. Ideal lens to carry. Would have liked an extra bezel, but size would be an issue. It works out. 5/18: After 6 months of use, I found that the lens, while compact, is nowhere near as sharp as my set of Sigma E prime lenses. Though I thought it would be, I didn't think it would the zoom from sony is going to be as bad as it is. I like the handling and weight of the zoom, but the images just aren't up to scratch. I've tried setting the camera to RAW + JPEG with histogram display. I tried manually, aperture preferred, there is no significant difference in the results. I will only go back to JPEG and use it when weight and space are premium. I have a CANON S100 which is a pretty good point and shoot device. It revolves around this lens for image quality and my Sony camera is an APS-C (larger sensor) sensor model. So it must be the lens. Useful but so soft.
