Went to China and was very afraid of being hacked. I need a travel router with OpenVPN loaded so I can activate and use my VPN subscription when needed. A general search on Google and the web didn't turn up many options, but I found this one on Revain and decided to give it a try. The price was good and it came with open source DD-WRT and OpenVPN pre-installed. It requires some basic knowledge of network security to use and is not suitable for those who normally cannot manage these settings without help. The device worked perfectly. It was easy to set up my 3rd party VPN account in the software. It easily connects to secure and public Wi-Fi. For IOS users who are having trouble viewing the public WiFi login page, using this router will solve this IOS problem. Unexpected bonus. Another unexpected bonus is that this router can be powered via micro-USB. It does not require its own dedicated power supply. This allows it to run on a standard USB rechargeable battery, so you can use it without an outlet. When I was looking for a travel router, I was initially hoping to find a battery powered travel router with OpenVPN, but I couldn't find one. However, I now prefer this one because it's much smaller than a battery powered travel router and allows me to easily power it from a USB rechargeable battery when needed. It's the best of both worlds as I always carry a couple of batteries with me when I travel.
