My project is half done (I installed 4 of them, 3 more are pending). I agree that setting up these things in 4X4 takes some work. However, they seem to be very durable once you learn how to install them. I recommend using a Forstner bit instead of a hole saw bit. The hole saw drill will leave a 4x4 plug that you'll either have to cut out, hollow out, or come back with a shovel. Play around with a few pieces of wood before you start drilling into the finished piece. Also note that you have to smack the hell out of these things to get them on the underside of the 4x4. I've had the most success with a demolition hammer and a 3 pound mini sledgehammer. I didn't "slap" the other end of the 4x4 like some of the reviewers shared, but I did insert a piece of plywood to protect the end.
