I kept my phone along with a wallet, power adapter and charging cable and the third pocket provided space for other small items. I liked that I could use the shoulder strap or remove it entirely and wear it securely on my wrist. I liked the unobtrusive look. I wish it was waterproof and I haven't tested it but I'm pretty sure the fabric is waterproof but the zipper is probably water permeable so I wouldn't risk submerging while traveling in a kayak.
