Just not strong enough

The description mentions how strong it is, this is the main reason I purchased it.

One of the pictures even shows that it holds a honing rod. But this is just not the case, and considering that it should hold knives, it makes this item dangerous in my opinion. My Wusthof fillet knife just slides off it, and my Zwelling honing rod does the same. The Henkels Pro Rocking Santoku holds on to it, but it does not feel stable and rotates on slight touch. It holds the Yaxwel Vg10 and the Vg1 Nakiri pretty well, but I think it is mostly because they are wide and have a lot of surface area.I have a cheap eight-year-old magnetic strip, which holds the knives much better. The wood is also damaged in two places.

Pros
  • very nice aesthetics and function. Design is well thought out and all the needed
Cons
  • The strip may not hold as many knives as other storage solutions
