I ordered this panel for use with my portable ham radio which consists of a Yaesu FT-818 low power transceiver, an LDG autotuner and a 9:1 balun consists of 90 ft stranded antenna wire. I was hoping the panel would have enough power to fully charge the FT-818's internal battery and keep it in receive mode. I am pleased to report that this is the case. In bright sunlight, when the radio is in trickle charge mode, this will significantly increase operating time compared to a single battery. I also use it to charge my external battery and of course to charge my cell phone. Add to that good construction, a case that protects it when not in use, and a cordset that covers many 12V charging options, but not the thin barrel connector used on the FT-818 and some other radios. (My radio is equipped with Anderson PowerPole connectors, so I use cables I already have on hand.) This is a good choice for hikers and other adventurers who need to keep their smartphones charged, as well as radio amateurs who want to QRP in the field use.
