I think it could have been a little louder than the original that was in my 2016 Crosstrek. BUT IT WORKS! This is a direct replacement - almost identical to the OEM. There is even a counterweight (in the form of a metal clip) on one of the fan blades. Let's get back to volume: It works. Did I mention it? Look, this is a small SUV, so any fan moving any amount of air makes noise. Most of the time it's just airflow noise from the fan running at high speed. Is it awfully loud? nope It works out. Is the motor (not the fan) making unusual noises? No, it's an electric motor, so of course you'll hear engine noise. It's been about 3 weeks now and no stuttering. It works well! I would recommend this fan motor assembly to anyone looking for a replacement. (I've been waiting for the original to actually go. I live in Florida so you can imagine how awful THAT was! LOL) Don't wait. Substitute.
