A solid choice for a lightweight laptop
This is my third HP Chromebook and they all serve me well. I use it as an ultraportable web browser with a keyboard - the screen is much larger than my phone's, with a tactile physical keyboard that I prefer to a tablet's touch interface. My only complaint about cheap Chromebooks is that they tend to freeze/slow with lots of websites and when loading memory intensive apps like Google Docs/Sheets. If you can live with that downside, it would make a great second laptop or something for your kids.
