Review on AMP Research 75410-01A BedStep2 Retractable Truck Bed Side Step for 2014-2018 Ram 3500 Dually, 8' Bed - Black by Justin Metz

The following review is for a 2014 Ram 3500. Differences in model or year may result in different results. Overall, the stage itself is a quality product. Unfortunately there are a few minor quality issues with the kit and installation guide.1. As another reviewer mentioned, the included installation guide has the "driver side orientation" and "passenger side orientation" images completely reversed. Even the manual that can be downloaded from the AMP website shows this issue (it hasn't been fixed yet at the time of this review). The cutout in the side bracket (item 3) must point to the rear of the vehicle on the driver's side during installation.2. The tab on the leaf spring hanger bracket (Item 5) must face up, not down, as shown in the installation instructions and align with the existing hole in the leaf spring hanger.3. The screw (Item 7) for the leaf spring suspension bracket included with the kit is too short to properly thread the included nut, so you will need a longer screw.4. Even if you eventually align and install everything, the plastic step WILL make contact (ie butt) against the underside of the truck fender when closed. This isn't necessarily a problem, but you should be aware of it in case it stops the show. Aside from the disadvantages mentioned above, the stage works as intended and appears to be reliable in use. Keep in mind this is not a quick, easy 15 minute bolt-on. Assembly. This is a painstaking project that requires heavy tooling (metric and SAE), some test fittings, drilling a 17/32" hole in one of the sheet metal ribs under the bed, and installing a custom rivet nut (with separate instructions). You will also need a torque wrench for this job. Unless you are mechanically inclined and have the skills to do so, I strongly recommend you leave this to a good mechanic.
