We use GMC Acadia to transport our kayaks to local destinations. As with many modern SUVs, there is a lot of plastic on the front of this Acadia. This gives us a strong connection point for the front bindings, which in turn makes the kayak mount more efficient. Our Yukon XL has front hooks, but we bought a set of these straps for them as well because it offers a more convenient connection point with a more useful rope angle. Time will tell how they hold up over time (we keep them under the hood when not in use) but for now I'm very happy with the straps.
