Review on APC P6GC 6 Outlet/120V Power-Saving Timer Essential SurgeArrest with 3ft Cord by Brent Walker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The timer works well after setting.

I bought this surge protector because of the timer function. I had to somehow turn off electronics in the bedroom at night and during the day while I was at work. As other reviewers have noted, the tiny screen makes the timer a bit confusing and difficult to read. This allows 6 different timer settings. You can set all 7 days of the week or just weekdays or weekends. There is an override feature that allows you to re-enable surge protection. The timer screen is tiny and unless you're in a well-lit area it can be difficult to see the on/off and am/pm indicators due to the lack of a backlight. I hooked up a surge protector behind the dresser so I needed a flashlight to see the screen. The cord is only 3 feet long, so you need to be near an outlet. There are 6 three-pin sockets - 5 with timers and 1 "always on". The override function allows you to turn on the protector manually during the "off" period. After I set the timer using the instructions that came with it, it worked as expected (i.e. turns off/on as expected. You just have to follow the instructions. It can be a little frustrating but if you follow the instructions the timer will turn into I'm not very good at following the instructions but I was able to set it up after a bit of trial and error.Overall I like it and now I don't have to worry about my electronics being on when I sleep The protector has three tiny indicators to show the protector is plugged in and one indicator to show the timer is set It's a bit pricey but the electronics are worth it I only wish the timer screen would be a bit larger and the cable a bit longer Overall, the effort to set the timer is worth it.
