Works great with my PS3 Slim

I was torn between this and the Western Digital equivalent. I have WD in my laptop and it seems like a reliable and quiet drive, but I read a few reviews that said PS3 games can freeze for a split second or so with this drive. I don't know how true that is, but I didn't want to risk it. So I chose Seagate. Installing on PS3 couldn't be easier. Simply loosen the screw from below, then pull out the flap, old HDD, replace. Download the latest firmware update from your Playstation onto a flash drive and insert it into your PS3 when prompted by the TV. Anyone who can read can. When everything is formatted and installed, it will show you have 412/465 GB of free space. It is in order. I put this hard drive in 2 cases and this is what it shows. WD also only shows 465 GB. They're just made that way. So far, so good. I bought two of these. One from Revain and one from another site, both for only $54.99 at the time. I thought it was a deal for such a big ride. So far everything works the same as the Hitachi 160GB that came with my system, only now I have a lot more storage. That was my only goal and expectation. The only complaint I have is that it's not as quiet as the WD. At least not in PS3 (WD in my laptop). I wouldn't say it's loud, but if you're downloading at night and all is quiet, you might hear a few buzzes and ticks here and there. I'm about 10 feet from the system and sometimes I have to focus to hear it, but I can definitely hear it, at least to me. I've heard that Sony uses Seagate in their PS3s, along with several other brands, and I've read several complaints from PS3 buyers that their games freeze temporarily, so I settled on Seagate. I thought it was a more compatible brand and when the TV is on I can't hear anything from it. I had a drive in my laptop that sounded like a coffee grinder. I'm deducting a star because it could have been quieter compared to the WD. This can vary from disk to disk. I'm just speaking from my experience with two. Overall I am happy with this drive and would buy it again. Highly recommended for anyone upgrading their PS3. Don't get involved in the process. Check your manual and YouTube to see exactly how it's done. I will update this review in a few months. Much luck!
