Mine came with a white o-ring. I called Hengst NA headquarters in North Carolina and got the most amazing customer service representative. She confirmed that some of the filters were switched to synthetic material and they were indeed white. She enjoyed working at Hengst and genuinely believed (like me) that Hengst made a much better product. It's nice to have an enthusiastic, happy employee who can't say enough good things about their company (unlike an apathetic offshore helpdesk whose job it is to get in touch with the next caller). I've cut various fuel filters and spin-on oil filters, and Hengst has more pleats on their filters, including air filters, than other companies. (Obviously, that cartridge filter didn't need to be opened.) Also, there are never any ill-fitting trims like some other companies' air filters. . I use a lot of filters and Hengst is the best and usually the cheapest!
