Photos of my son in shorts were taken right after the shorts arrived. Photographs of the shorts in a horizontal position were taken after the first delicate wash cycle. The good news is that the shorts have not shrunk and the bad news is that the raw edges are badly frayed. I've since trimmed the dangling fibers, but after another wash they're gone and look even worse. You can see that on the legs in particular, but the back pockets aren't quilted or frayed either. Also, I don't really like the overall style. They looked cute and stylish in the catalog photos, but in reality they remind me too much of men's underwear. In terms of size, they are ok. My son is 4 years old and wears 4T clothes and this 4th size fits him. Elastic waistband with functional drawstrings. The cords are thick, very long and open-ended. What I love most about these shorts is the fabric they are made of. This is a comfortable, medium weight, soft 100% cotton fabric. In general these are not my favorite pieces but my son enjoys wearing them and says they are very comfortable so he uses them as home pants to play with.
