Review on Heininger Hitchmate TireStep 4040, Black – 1 Pack by Trey Michaels

Great product that you will use frequently when getting in/out of a truck.

I am using this on a Ford F250 with 20" tires and it works perfectly. I would say a 20 inch tire (my tire size is 275x65xR20) is the max extension you can use this unit on. I usually use a ladder for above waist work, but decided to give it a try. You never know when you'll be out or perhaps hiking, and without your ladder, and this device fits the bill perfectly. Lightweight, durable and foldable to a compact size, I keep it packed. Carry bag on the floor of the back seat where it doesn't get in anyone's way. Great fit and finish, pristine gloss black powder coat finish, and a vinyl lined nylon mesh pocket fits snugly and holds it well. A few things I've noticed and worked for you to think about. This block is black so it kind of blends in with the rest of the underside of the truck, and I might see a "shin replacement" surgery in the future if I forget it's attached, so I used reflective backing tape with self-adhesive Rear added (Lowes/HD) and glued to the front and back of the tire. surface and around the step (see fig. 1 and 2). If I could prevent a shin splint, it would be worth the $3 investment. Second, the 20-inch tire has a fairly wide rim, and the back of the step touches my rims when I'm standing on the step (Figure 3). ). So I covered the back with a piece of felt (Fig. 4) and placed a felt "button" just below it to avoid damaging the edge (see Fig. 5 and 6). The cost is about $5.
